Production Veal calves Each individual calf that is put into a veal farm within the PALI Group is assessed by one of our specialist buyers. This assessment is done at one of the permanent selection centres for new-born calves, and covers amongst others general health, age, fleshiness, gender and weight. The veal farmer takes the greatest care in giving good and expert feed, housing and in caring for the calves. We keep in close contact with veal farmers under our contract. They are supported intensively by our experts at all stages of the growth of the calves. We keep a critical eye on the wellbeing of the animals in all that we do. All veal calves produced by the PALI Group are slaughtered in our own slaughterhouse Vitelco. The specialist supervising the calf farm assesses and classifies each individual calf on behalf of the slaughterhouse. In addition all the animals are checked by SKV and SGS/Agrocontrol in Belgium. Calves complying with the rules and all the conditions get a certificate and may be delivered to the slaughterhouse. The Pali Group keeps a finger on the pulse in each part of the chain and can give complete and one hundred percent reliable information about the products and production at any given time. All data concerning an individual calf are registered and coupled to the unique identification and registration number (I&R) of the animal. By doing this the Pali Group offers the necessary guarantees for a safe and reliable end product. |
